Alright, we have another incredibly exciting post today. Posting a cover reveal is always exciting to me, and today, Orbit Books has once again asked Novel Notions to host the cover re-reveal of a book I read and enjoyed roughly three years ago: The Lost War by Justin Lee Anderson. Just like The Combat Codes, this was originally a self-published novel that became one of the finalists in SPFBO 6th. With the difference being… The Lost War won first place in SPFBO 6th (2020). This is one of my favorite books, and I think Orbit made the right choice in getting this awesome book into their list of catalogs. And now, The Lost War is receiving a brand-new cover art, design, and publication date. Also, there’s some news regarding the long-awaited sequel to The Lost War below. Do not miss out on it. We have another incredibly exciting post today. Orbit Books has asked Novel Notions to host the cover reveal for one of my most anticipated releases of 2023: The Bone Shard War by Andrea Stewart! Yes! The Bone Shard Daughter remains strong as one of my favorite fantasy debuts, and I’ve longed for the conclusion to the trilogy for a while now. Today, amazingly, I get to host the cover reveal of the final volume in The Drowning Empire trilogy! Once again, Sasha Vinogradova returns as the cover artist, and she successfully crafted another intricately beautiful cover art. Just like the previous two books in the series. I received an advance copy of this novel from the publisher, Harper Voyager, via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Have you ever read a sequel that retroactively made you love its predecessor even more, to the point that you actually go back and change your original rating? I originally loved A River Enchanted but had a few issues with it. But upon reading A Fire Endless, all of those issues have evaporated. I think this might be the closest thing to a perfect duology I’ve ever consumed. The balance hear is exquisite, the writing became more and more lyrically beautiful as the story progressed, and there’s just something to be said for a tale of hope and healing; those are woefully infrequent, and I was thrilled to find such a story within the pages of the Elements of Cadence duology. …
