Cover Reveal: The Lost War (Eidyn, #1) by Justin Lee Anderson
Hi everyone! Petrik from Novel Notions here.
Alright, we have another incredibly exciting post today. Posting a cover reveal is always exciting to me, and today, Orbit Books has once again asked Novel Notions to host the cover re-reveal of a book I read and enjoyed roughly three years ago: The Lost War by Justin Lee Anderson. Just like The Combat Codes, this was originally a self-published novel that became one of the finalists in SPFBO 6th. With the difference being… The Lost War won first place in SPFBO 6th (2020). This is one of my favorite books, and I think Orbit made the right choice in getting this awesome book into their list of catalogs. And now, The Lost War is receiving a brand-new cover art, design, and publication date. Also, there’s some news regarding the long-awaited sequel to The Lost War below. Do not miss out on it. It is an honor for me and Novel Notions to post the cover art to The Lost War. Without further ado, here’s the NEW cover reveal to The Lost War by Justin Lee Anderson!

Justin Lee Anderson’s sensational epic fantasy debut follows an emissary for the king as he gathers a group of strangers and embarks on a dangerous quest across a war-torn land.
The war is over, but the beginnings of peace are delicate.
Demons continue to burn farmlands, violent mercenaries roam the wilds, and a plague is spreading . The country of Eidyn is on its knees.
In a society that fears and shuns him, Aranok is the first mage to be named King’s Envoy. And his latest task is to restore an exiled foreign queen to her throne.
The band of allies he assembles each have their own unique skills. But they are strangers to each other, and at every step across the ravaged land, a new threat emerges, lies are revealed, and distrust threatens to destroy everything they are working for. Somehow, Aranok must bring his companions together and uncover the conspiracy that threatens the kingdom—before war returns to the realms again.
That’s a pretty cool cover art, right!? I think it’s my favorite cover art for The Lost War so far. But that’s not all… here’s some more additional information!

AND below is what Justin Lee Anderson has to say regarding the new cover art and new edition of The Lost War!
I absolutely love the new cover. Jeremy’s done a wonderful job of bringing the characters to life. His style is so striking. I adore the way he uses the white space to contrasts with the bold colours.
As for the new edition, I think it’s a genuinely better book for the work we’ve done on it. There are several new scenes added, including one deleted scene from the original draft. If people are inclined to, it will be worth reading for people who have already read the first edition, in that it will provide a slightly richer world as well as a deeper understanding of some characters and also sets up some things and introduces some characters for book 2. At the same time, I think it’s important to be fair to early readers, so you’re not going to be lost or confused in book 2 if you’ve only read the first edition. Basically, you don’t *have* to read the new edition to enjoy the rest of the series, but you should be rewarded if you do. Plus there’s a sneak preview of the first chapter of The Bitter Crown at the end of the book!
I want to give my special thanks to Justin Lee Anderson, Angela, & Orbit for allowing Novel Notions the honor and pleasure of hosting the exclusive cover reveal for The Lost War. As fantasy enthusiasts and self-proclaimed connoisseurs of book cover art, it means a lot for me and all of us here at Novel Notions to be given this opportunity. It goes without saying that I’m looking forward to rereading The Lost War!
