Cover Reveal: The Lost War (Eidyn, #1) by Justin Lee Anderson

Cover Reveal: The Lost War (Eidyn, #1) by Justin Lee Anderson

Hi everyone! Petrik from Novel Notions here.

Alright, we have another incredibly exciting post today. Posting a cover reveal is always exciting to me, and today, Orbit Books has once again asked Novel Notions to host the cover re-reveal of a book I read and enjoyed roughly three years ago: The Lost War by Justin Lee Anderson. Just like The Combat Codes, this was originally a self-published novel that became one of the finalists in SPFBO 6th. With the difference being… The Lost War won first place in SPFBO 6th (2020). This is one of my favorite books, and I think Orbit made the right choice in getting this awesome book into their list of catalogs. And now, The Lost War is receiving a brand-new cover art, design, and publication date. Also, there’s some news regarding the long-awaited sequel to The Lost War below. Do not miss out on it. It is an honor for me and Novel Notions to post the cover art to The Lost War. Without further ado, here’s the NEW cover reveal to The Lost War by Justin Lee Anderson!

Petrik’s Top 20 Books of the Year (2019)

The featured image above was specifically designed by Felix Ortiz for Novel Notions’ Top 20 Lists. Check out his portfolio, he’s brilliant.

Click here if you want to see the list of all the books I’ve read this year: Petrik’s Year in Books (2019)

Here we are, we’re reaching the end of 2019 very soon! This year, I’ve read and reviewed 115 books (96 traditionally published books + 19 indie books.)

It’s lower than the previous two years, but I must say that it’s been another incredible reading year for me. Putting the high amount of 4.5 and 5 stars books I’ve rated this year into consideration, I will be applying four rules into this list; doing this will help me give appreciation to more authors, and I’ll be able to include both new and older books (many of them still need attention) rather than having only a few authors/books hoarding the list every year.

  • Rereads don’t count.
  • One book per author.
  • Unless specified, the books listed here are published this year.
  • Number one spot aside, none of these are in particular order. All have merit, and most have different strengths that make them stand out from each other; it’s too difficult for me to rank them accordingly.

All the books listed below received a rating of 4.5 or 5 out of 5 stars from me. Without further ado, here are the top 20 books I’ve read in 2019! (Full reviews of these books can be found on Novel Notions and my Goodreads page.)

The Lost War by Justin Lee Anderson

My rating: 4.5 of 5 stars

Series: Eidyn (Book #1 of 3)

Genre: Fantasy, High Fantasy, Dark Fantasy

Pages: 572 pages

Published: 30th August 2019 by King Lot Publishing (Indie)

Thrilling mysteries, powerful magic, tangible tension, and great characters to root for; The Lost War has it all.

I honestly had no idea what the book was about when I started it. I’ve never even heard of the author before, not until a few weeks ago where I stumbled upon Anna Stephens’, the author of Godblind trilogy, review of this novel on the Fantasy-Faction Facebook group. Stephens recommended it highly, and after I took a look at the cover art and synopsis, somehow everything about it just clicked with me. I decided to give it a shot based on instinct. This isn’t an easy thing for me to do because I’m more of a plan-oriented reader when it comes to reading through my ARC/review requests. However, giving this a go as soon as possible has paid off satisfyingly for me.
