Hi everyone! Petrik from Novel Notions here.

Today, we’re here to bring you a beautiful cover reveal of Grievar’s Blood, this is the second book in The Combat Codes Saga series by Alexander Darwin. I’ve read the first two books of this series, and they’re really fun sci-fi novels! I will attach the link to my spoiler-free reviews down below. Let me know what you think of the cover art and whether this series interests you or not! Thank you so much to Alexander Darwin for giving me the opportunity to host this cover reveal! Without further ado, here’s the cover reveal to Grievar’s Blood!

Cover art: Felix Ortiz

Cover design: STK.Kreations

In a world where single combat determines the fate of nations, the Grievar fight in the Circles so that the rest can remain at peace. But given the stakes, things are never so simple. The Daimyo govern from the shadows and plot to gain an edge by unnaturally enhancing their Grievar Knights.

Cego and his team enter year two at the world’s most prestigious combat school, the Lyceum. Though he’d like to focus on his martial studies, Cego feels the pull of his mysterious past and two missing brothers.

Solara Halberd, daughter of the fighting legend, embarks on her own quest to bury the past. She must utilize every lesson her father taught her to explore unknown lands where evil lurks in the shadows.

I had the pleasure of working again with artist Felix Ortiz and cover designer Shawn T. King for the second installment of the Combat Codes saga, Grievar’s Blood.

I simply loved the way Felix portrayed the characters on the cover of the first book in a Star Wars movie-poster style, and so I was very excited to see a new batch of characters showcased on the cover of Grievar’s Blood.

One criticism of the first book was a lack of prominent female characters, but readers will notice a major female POV in Grievar’s Blood, that of Solara Halberd. Her narrative arc is central to the story and her journey ties together the large-scale events occuring in the world, so it was natural to have her featured on the cover.

We also feature a character that was revealed at the end of book one and gets a major POV in book two.  I love how Felix portrayed him riding his Roc mount, almost looking like a wandering dark Samurai.

I also wanted to feature some of the races in the world outside of the Grievar, so we get to see two of the Daimyo characters on the cover: Mauri the Cleric and Lord Cantino, one of the primary villains in the second installment.

I can’t wait to feature another batch of characters, old and new, for the final installment, Grievar’s War, due out this summer!

These cover arts looked very striking! If you haven’t read these books, you can check out my spoiler-free review on The Combat Codes and Grievar’s Blood to gauge whether this series will be for you or not.
